FANNIE CHAMBERLAIN’S 200TH BIRTHDAY WITH PARTY AND GUEST ARTIST

CHAMBERLAIN MUSEUM CELEBRATES FANNIE CHAMBERLAIN’S 200TH BIRTHDAY WITH PARTY AND GUEST ARTIST

Brunswick – July 25, 2025:  Three years older than her famous husband, Frances “Fannie” Chamberlain turns 200 this year, on August 12. To celebrate, the Joshua L. Chamberlain Museum, located at 226 Maine Street and operated by Pejepscot History Center, is holding a special Fannie-themed tour and a birthday party open house.

The tour takes place twice: on Saturday, August 9, and Tuesday, August 12 at 2:30PM, and is limited to 15 guests each. Tickets are required via pejepscothistorical.org. Tour guides will highlight aspects of Fannie’s life relative to each room of the house.

Following the Tuesday tour, the museum will hold a birthday party from 3:30-5:30 PM featuring mixed media textile artist, Catherine Worthington, a Brunswick resident. Worthington, whose work is housed in area institutions and private collections, will chat with guests and display her own painted-cloth quilted pieces alongside Fannie’s. Fannie Chamberlain was a gifted fine art painter, quilter, knitter, and sewer, and 35 of her crazy quilt squares are owned by the museum.

Guests will enjoy cake and ice cream on the lawn (or inside in the event of rain), free walk-throughs of the house, discounts on Fannie-related items in the shop, and a 19th-century costume contest judged by Joshua and Fanny reenactors.
